Stephen Eustaquio: Swansea City sign Canada midfielder from Porto

Published

on

Swansea City have signed Porto midfielder Stephen Eustaquio for an undisclosed fee, which is understood to be about £3.4m.

The Canada international, 29, has agreed a two-year deal with the option for a further 12 months at the Championship club.

Eustaquio’s arrival looks like something of a coup for Swansea given his experience at club and international level.

“Stephen is an experienced leader who possesses great technical quality and game understanding,” said Swansea head coach Vitor Matos.

“His qualities will complement the options we already have available to us in midfield, and he is an incredible professional.

“He is going to be an important player for us, on and off the pitch, and I am sure our fans are going to enjoy watching him play for Swansea City.”

Hull City are close to an agreement with Roma for striker Robinio Vaz.

The deal for Vaz will be a season-long loan, for a fee of €2million, with a €30million option to buy. Hull are working to finalise the deal with Roma and Vaz.

The 19-year-old joined Roma from Marseille in January, having previously scored four goals in 14 Ligue 1 appearances during the first half of the season.

Vaz then featured 12 times off the bench in Serie A for Roma, scoring once. He previously played for Ligue 2 side Sochaux before joining Marseille in 2024 and has represented France up to under-20 level.

Hull have had an active transfer window on their return to the Premier League, bringing in 10 first-team players. They have already added to their forward ranks with the signing of striker Joe Gelhardt from Leeds United and winger Elliot Stroud from AIF.

Ollie McBurnie, who scored 17 Championship goals in 37 appearances in Hull’s promotion-winning season last term, started up front during their Premier League opener, Saturday’s 2-0 win over Manchester United, flanked by Stroud and Mohamed Belloumi.
