Golden Globes Reveals Podcasts Eligible For Best Podcast 2026

Published

on

Amy Poehler’s Good Hang won the inaugural award for Best Podcast at this year’s Golden Globes.

The awards show has now revealed the list of 30 eligible podcasts for its second award, to be handed out on Sunday, January 10, 2027.

Making the shortlist for the first time are podcasts such as Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, Las Culturistas with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang and Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast.

They are joined by the likes of Bad Friends from Bobby Lee and Andrew Santino, comedy history show Behind the Bastards, true-crime series Love Trapped, My Favorite Murder with Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, Malcolm Gladwell’s Revisionist History, The Shawn Ryan Show, comedy show The Toast and This American Life.

This comes as the 84th Golden Globes has expanded the list from 25 to 30 (see full list below).

Shows that are no longer eligible include 20/20, 48 Hours, Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard and The Ben Shapiro Show.

How was this list put together? Luminate determines the Top 30 qualifying podcasts among all eligible ones based on a list of criteria, including audience reach and engagement, revenue and chart rankings, using direct data from platforms. (Luminate is owned by Deadline parent PMC, which co-owns the Golden Globes.)

The shows will now be invited to submit themselves for consideration and Globes voters will determine the nominees. Last year, the nominees were Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, Call Her Daddy, Good Hang with Amy Poehler, The Mel Robbins Podcast, Smartless and NPR’s Up First.

‘Artificial’ Movie First Reactions

Published

on

This stretch of the 2026 film calendar is all about Big Tech. With Aaron Sorkin’s pseudo-sequel “The Social Reckoning” opening this weekend and Luca Guadagnino‘s OpenAI satire “Artificial” premiering at the New York Film Festival, cinephiles who have a bone to pick with Silicon Valley have plenty of material to feast on. And if early reactions to “Artificial” are any indicator, Guadagnino’s film about Sam Altman promises to be both darkly hilarious and sincerely terrifying.

“Artificial” sees Andrew Garfield playing Altman, the OpenAI founder who was famously forced out of his company in 2023 over disagreements with a board that included Elon Musk before regaining control five days later. The film was written by Simon Rich, with David Heyman, Jeffrey Clifford, and Jennifer Fox serving as producers alongside Rich and Guadagnino.

“Artificial” was originally greenlit by Amazon MGM, which previously financed Guadagnino’s “Challenges” and “After the Hunt.” But Amazon dropped the completed film earlier this year, shortly after the company struck a $50 billion deal with OpenAI to provide web services via its AWS division. Neon subsequently acquired the rights to the film and is planning a Christmas release and Oscar campaign.

The film premiered on Monday, October 5 at the New York Film Festival. Initial reactions from those in attendance have been positive, with many singling out the film’s biting satirical voice. Many critics appear to be as terrified by the film’s depictions of our AI-dominated future as they were entertained by its jokes — but it appears certain that “Artificial” will be one of the most talked-about films of the fall season.

Neon will release “Artificial” in theaters on Friday, December 25. Keep reading for a roundup of early social media reactions to the film.
