6 Carrie TV Show Easter Eggs, From The Dark Tower to BSG

Published

on

The latest reimagining of Stephen King’s “Carrie” has more than a few fun Easter Eggs for eagle-eyed fans to catch.

The 2026 adaptation of “Carrie” comes from Mike Flanagan, who has brought a number of the author’s books to the big and small screen. The filmmaker is a dyed-in-the-wool fan of King and the Easter Eggs he snuck into “Carrie” reflect that. Plus, it’s pretty clear that his long trip to adapting “The Dark Tower” is high on his mind no matter what he’s working on — and for King’s Constant Readers, Flanagan has offered plenty of surprises.

Check out the Easter Eggs we clocked in Prime Video’s “Carrie,” below:

Carrie’s dad works for LaMerk Industries

Carrie’s dad dies in one of the opening scenes of the premiere, but it’s where he dies that might perk up Constant Readers. Ralph works in construction, and the day he dies, he walks by a sign indicating he’s working on a LaMerk Industries project. That’s a company that fans of The Dark Tower know all too well. In later books in King’s long-running series, LaMerk is a metalworks company allied with The Crimson King to take down the Tower and stop The Gunslinger Roland Deschain and his ka-tet. Usually, the corporation is focused on producing robots — but it seems they’re getting into commercial real estate, too.

Margaret works at S-Mart

When Carrie is told she has to attend public school in the wake of Ralph’s death, Margaret is told that in order to keep custody, she needs to get a job. As such, she works first as a cashier and then as a janitor at a place called S-Mart. Longtime horror fans will recognize the name as a prominent store in Sam Raimi’s “The Evil Dead” franchise. That series’ protagonist Ash also works at S-Mart.

Chris gets the pig blood from a hog farm owned by Sombra Corporation

The hog farm where Chris and Billy get the blood with which to douse Carrie also contains a King reference. A sign for the farm mentions that it’s owned by the Sombra Corporation. Like LaMerk, Sombra works for The Crimson King and his efforts to destroy The Dark Tower. Their jobs are primarily to work on the Keystone Earth to destroy The Rose – that world’s link to the Tower – and manage the Trans Corporation, which is tasked to find young telekinetics to be taken to Mid-World to serve as Breakers to tear down the Dark Tower.

With the 2026 adaptation of “Carrie” exploring more telekinetics in the world, it makes you wonder if Flanagan is starting to set down connection flags should he ever get to adapt King’s magnum opus.

Theater marquee is celebrating Brian De Palma

Following the prom massacre, Carrie wanders through Chamberlain in her blood-soaked prom dress. At one point, she stops at an intersection in front of the town movie theater and the marquee is advertising a celebration for director Brian De Palma. Aside from being a legendary director in general, De Palma also helmed the original “Carrie” adaptation that starred Sissy Spacek back in the ’70s.

The series is a ‘Battlestar Galactica’ reunion

Flanagan must be a big “Battlestar Galactica” fan because the season is a full-on reunionon of the beloved science fiction series’ cast. Michael Trucco – who plays Chris’ dad in “Carrie” – has been a staple in Flanagan’s projects since “Midnight Mass,” but he also starred as Anders in BSG. He was joined in the regular cast by Tahmoh Penikett, who played Ralph in “Carrie” and Agathon in BSG, and Katee Sackhoff, who shows up late in the King adaptation and famously played Starbuck in “Battlestar Galactica.”

But that was not where the reunion ended. In the final episodes of the season, the town gathers students and parents to talk through whether or not they should go through with the planned prom. Two of the concerned parents are played by Aaron Douglas and Tricia Helfer — Douglas played Chief Tyrol and Helfer played Number Six in “Battlestar Galactica.”

The Shine

This one is pretty obvious from the jump, but Carrie has The Shine – the term for telekinetics of various degrees that populate many of King’s books. It’s also clear there are larger groups with The Shine who are banding together and trying to find Carrie. Whether these are The Breakers from The Dark Tower, just independent rogue groups or something else is left unclear as the season comes to a close.

Bryan Fuller, Don Mancini Make Surprise ‘Carrie’ Cameo In Prom Scene

Published

With chaperones like these, it’s a wonder the prom in Prime Video‘s Carrie didn’t end in a higher body count.

Now available to stream, the penultimate episode “Romantic Literature” of Mike Flanagan‘s series adaptation of the Stephen King book ends with the iconic pig’s blood splattering of Carrie White (Summer H. Howell).

As the camera cuts to the crowd, we see a gymnasium full of stunned faces, including those of Flanagan’s fellow horror maestros Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Dust Bunny) and Don Mancini (Chucky, Child’s Play).

Last week, Mancini congratulated Flanagan on his series adaptation of King’s 1974 debut novel. “CONGRATULATIONS TO @flanaganfilm AND TO CHUCKY’S OLD PAL @summerhhowell ON YOUR BRILLIANT, HEARTRENDING NEW VERSION OF #carrie,” he wrote on Instagram. “Fans of De Palma’s film (it’s my official Favorite Horror Movie) will love it; the TV series is rewardingly, and thrillingly, different. Summer, Chucky is very proud of you!”

Howell, who takes over the title role in Flanagan’s Carrie, previously made her onscreen debut as Alice Pierce in 2013’s Curse of Chucky, reprising the role in Cult of Chucky (2017), both from writer/director Mancini.

Flanagan previously shared praise for Fuller’s “terrific” version of the Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake, which has since been taken over by showrunner and EP Brad Caleb Kane, premiering Oct. 15 on Peacock.

Alexander Skarsgard’s Wicker Gets Immersive With 4DX Screening Event

Published

Looking to immerse yourself in the wicker husband? Now you can.

Black Bear, the production company behind Eleanor Wilson and Alex Huston Fischer’s Wicker, revealed Wednesday that the romantic fantasy will be screening in 4DX for a one-night-only event on Oct. 28.

This came after the film became a viral sensation with fans who believe it will be a raunchy experience and campaigned for it to play in the immersive format that incorporates synchronized environmental and physical effects, including motion, vibration, water and scents.

“From the moment the trailer landed, audiences understood that Wicker could be something different, and they started asking to experience it in 4DX,” David Spitz, head of U.S. theatrical distribution for Black Bear, wrote in a statement. “What’s particularly exciting is seeing this wholly original film connect with audiences who might not ordinarily see themselves in the audience for a film like this. 4DX gives us a chance to lean into everything that makes it special, while giving audiences exactly what they asked for.”

Wicker, based on Ursula Wills’ short story The Wicker Husband, follows a fisherwoman (Olivia Colman) who commissions the local basketmaker (Peter Dinklage) to weave her a husband (Alexander Skarsgård). However, when the quiet village realizes he’s the man of any woman’s dreams, his presence sparks jealousy and chaos.

Following Wednesday’s announcement, fans are already getting excited about the 4DX experience, with some trying to predict just how much they’re going to get experience of Skarsgård’s wicker husband. “wdym 4dx is there a wicker dildo on the seat,” one person wrote on X. Another person added, “4DX? Are they handing out wicker vibrators before the screening or what.”

Wicker hits theaters on Oct. 23.

Marilyn Monroe, Sydney Sweeney Are Related: Ninth Cousins, Once Removed

Published

on

Marilyn Monroe and Sydney Sweeney are related, according to a new study by MyHeritage.

The actresses are ninth cousins, once removed. They share a mutual ancestor, Ezra Perry (c. 1625–1689), who was an early English settler in Sandwich, Massachusetts.

The Hollywood icon has been previously compared to the Euphoria star, notably when the latter actress wore a white dress at The Housemaid premiere in December 2025 that resembled Monroe’s iconic white skirt blowing look in The Seven Year Itch.

At the 2026 Santa Barbara Film Festival, Sweeney also wore a vintage Ceil Chapman gown that resembled that of the look Monroe sported on the cover of LIFE magazine in April 1952, furthering tendencies to point out their likeness.

“People have always drawn parallels between Sydney Sweeney and Marilyn Monroe, but seeing their paths align on a deeper level inspired us to look for a real bond in the MyHeritage archives,” said Roi Mandel, director of research at MyHeritage, in a statement. “Uncovering their shared branch was incredible, it’s a powerful reminder that humanity is one vast family tree, and when we dig deep, we uncover how remarkably interconnected we all are.”

The Emmy nominee has never portrayed Monroe onscreen, though many actresses have. Among those are Ana de Armas in Blonde and Michelle Williams for My Week with Marilyn, whom both earned Oscar nominations for their respective performances.

Most recently, Dakota Johnson and Ellen Burstyn portrayed versions of the Hollywood legend in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s short film Flesh Impact. Surprisingly, MyHeritage also revealed in new research that the Verity actress was also related to Monroe; she is Johnson’s ninth cousin, three times removed.

“With a new film bringing Marilyn Monroe back into the spotlight, our research team wanted to see whether there was a deeper family connection. Discovering that Dakota Johnson and Marilyn Monroe are related turns the casting into a real-life family story,” Naama Lanski, researcher at MyHeritage, said in a statement.
