Chuck Lorre Responds To Trump Via ‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’ Title Card
Chuck Lorre is thanking the White House for its “very public concern” over his mental health – or, as a administration spokesperson called it, “Trump Derangement Syndrome” – but something tells us the Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage producer is being something less than sincere.
The latest volley in the back-and-forth arrives tonight at the end of the George & Mandy‘s season 3 premiere, when a title card flashes on screen with Lorre’s new riposte.
First, some background. Last week, Lorre took the stage at a Project Angel Food charity gala in Los Angeles, and made known his feelings about Trump. “Sure, I’d love to stand here and talk about my deep yearning for a more compassionate government, one that prioritizes the health and welfare of its citizens,” he said, according to The Daily Beast. “But the burden of my profession demands that I take this opportunity to say a few words about that bloated orange piece of sh*t in the White House.”
The Stuart Fails to Save the Universe creator continued, “I’d love to express my gratitude to all the people who’ve devoted their lives to making Project Angel Food an oasis for those in need. That would be my preference. But because I’m a comedy writer, I have no choice but to explain how I wake up every morning to turn on CNN to see if the president of the United States had a heart attack while straining to take a dump.”
On Saturday, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle told Fox News Digital in a statement, “Chuck Lorre should immediately seek psychiatric help to treat his severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has completely rotted his peanut-sized brain.”
So, back to Lorre. Tonight’s title card reads:
“A spokesperson for the White House recently announced that I need psychiatric help. I don’t disagree. I’m not a big fan of mood-altering drugs or electroshock therapy, you know, Cuckoo’s Nest stuff, but I would be up for a chat with a trained professional who gently encourages me to seek out childhood experiences that negativelyimpact my thinking and behavior. (A possible culprit could be weekly atomic bomb drills in grade school. This involved hiding under my desk to avoid being cut to ribbons from the classroom windows exploding.) It might also be worth investigating if toxins in my environment bear any responsibility for my ‘derangement.’ (Can’t ignore all those mesothelioma commercials.) Regardless of how we proceed, I do appreciate this very public concern for my mental health. It’s comforting to know my government is looking out for me.”
As for tonight’s season premiere episode itself, the logline reads: Tensions rise when Mandy and the family side against Georgie in his fight with Mary. Meanwhile, Connor turns to Georgie when he gets himself into trouble.” Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage airs Thursday, 8 p.m. ET/PT, on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. The Young Sheldon spin-off stars Montana Jordan, Emily Osment, Rachel Bay Jones, Will Sasso, Dougie Baldwin and Jessie Prez, and comes Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc. in association with Warner Bros. Television. Lorre and Steve Holland serve as executive producers.
Lorre’s book, Sitcom: A Memoir, will be released on October 13.
Here’s what tonight’s title card will look like:

Paramount’s Kevin MacLellan Exiting Skydance After Merger
Kevin MacLellan, President of International and Global Content Distribution at the pre-merger Paramount, is leaving Skydance.
The news comes soon after Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) exec David Decker was named President, Content Sales at Skydance, with Jay Askinasi becoming Chief Revenue Officer, Advertising and Ray Hopkins appointed President, Distribution.
MacLellan had been with Paramount since August 2025, reporting directly in CEO David Ellison, when he returned to the TV industry after a spell in real estate, construction and managing residential properties in North Carolina, and was tasked with leading on global distribution of programs and channels.
We understand the former NBCUniversal international boss is now exiting after Paramount completed its $110B acquisition of WBD two days ago. He is known to have advised RedBird Capital Partners on its investment in Paramount, and has held executive roles at Sony Pictures and HBO.
MacLellan’s direct counterpart at WBD, Gerhard Zeiler, is also set to leave the business, having expressed a desire to run for office of a major Austrian political party. That appeared to leave MacLellan in a good position, but with Skydance deciding to restructure its international business more significantly, that didn’t play out.
Decker is report to J.B. Perrette, who was earlier in the week named Co-Chair & Chief Business Officer, Skydance TV and Skydance DTC. We understand Perrette’s post will see him taking a significant role in international strategy. MacLellan’s duties at Paramount had stretched beyond content sales and he had direct operational oversight of UK terrestrial network 5 and Australia’s Network Ten, along with international distribution of channels such as MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon.
The news has come just days before the start of MIPCOM Cannes, where both Warner and Paramount execs will be on the ground shopping their latest wares. Decker will oversee both TV libraries as Skydance’s content sales chief.

Skydance Shares Rebound After David Ellison & Co. Ring Opening Bell At New York Stock Exchange
It may be a coincidence – or investor bargain-hunting – but Skydance shares have rebounded Thursday after David Ellison and other top execs rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange.
Halfway through the trading day, the stock was at $9.42, up 6%. That nearly made up for Wednesday’s losses, which extended a two-day slump since Tuesday morning’s close of the Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger ushered in the Skydance era. Wall Streeters thus far have largely been uneasy about the company’s $79 billion in debt and dependence on declining businesses like linear television.
On the floor of the NYSE, a milestone moment for Hollywood after a fraught merger process was commemorated with the pageantry of the bell-ringing. The ceremony spanned the familiar marble balcony as the market opened and proceeded to a floor-level bell struck with a mallet. Ellison was joined by his wife, Sandra Lynn Modic, along with Co-CEO Ynon Kreiz; board member/investor Gerry Cardinale; CFO Dennis Cinelli; President Andy Gordon; and Makan Delrahim, Chief Legal Officer & President, Global Corporate Affairs.
After Ellison started the ringing of the large brass bell, he handed the mallet to Kreiz as everyone on the executive team got to take a whack. The musclebound former Mattel CEO generated an ear-piercing sound, grinning as he delivered a succession of staccato blows.
The event was essentially a photo call, with execs not directly interacting with the dozen-plus members of the media, most of whom were there to capture images and video. Ellison and Kreiz, who convened a press conference Tuesday in L.A., did sit down for a pre-bell interview prior with CNBC inside their glass-walled studio on the floor of the stock exchange. Ellison called Skydance a “solution” to the disruption of the media industry by Big Tech.
Executives will get a chance to make their case to Wall Street analysts in the coming weeks when they report third-quarter earnings results. Netflix is set to kick off earnings season for media companies and streamers on October 20. Skydance has yet to set a date for its quarterly numbers.
