Viral Post Linking BTS’s V and IVE’s Wonyoung in Dating Rumors Sparks Backlash as Netizens Mock Flimsy “Proof”

A viral post linking BTS’s V and IVE’s Jang Wonyoung in dating rumors has exploded across social media — and netizens are not having it. The original poster claimed to have a “massive list of proof” for the alleged relationship, only to face intense backlash, including what they described as a mass attack from global ARMYs.

According to the poster, the dating rumors originated from unverified gossip on Chinese social media. After the first post drew heat, the poster doubled down with a follow-up tweet sharing the supposed “proof” — a collection of flimsy evidence that netizens tore apart within hours.

The “Proof” That Fell Apart

The so-called evidence was classic delulu-tier material: a random mark on a table, an umbrella face mask, and other coincidences that fans gleefully mocked. One viral reply summed up the mood: “If dating rumors are based on these kinds of delulu pics, then Wonyoung is dating me. I have the matching cherry hairbrush, Rolarola, Medicube, etc. I’ve also been to Mott 32 and Wolfgang’s. Yeah, Wonyoung is definitely dating me.”

Others pointed out the obvious: “He is dating every k-pop girl at this point — every day I see bro getting linked to different girls.” V’s name has been attached to a rotating cast of rumored partners for years, and fans are exhausted by the pattern. Several users also accused attention-seekers of using Taehyung’s name for engagement, joking that he should start collecting royalties.

Fans Draw the Line

The heated reactions reflect a growing fatigue among K-pop fans with baseless shipping content that presents speculation as fact. Neither V’s agency nor Wonyoung’s has any reason to dignify the post with a response — this rumor has all the hallmarks of the manufactured “proof” compilations that circulate every few months and die just as fast.

For now, the only thing this viral post proved is how quickly netizens can dismantle a rumor — and how ready they are to do it.
