The Cast and Staff
Leading the cast are Yu Sasahara as Nano and Yusuke Kobayashi as Yuhi Takamiya. Behind the scenes, Sota Yokote takes the director’s chair, with Gigaemon Ichikawa handling the script and series composition. Yoshihiro Watanabe serves as character designer, while Hayato Matsumura composes the music.
The announcement came packaged with a teaser visual and a first trailer, giving fans an early look at how Sawada’s designs will translate to animation under Studio Massket’s direction.
A Slice-of-Life Story With an Alien Twist
The manga began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in September 2024 and has quickly become a fixture there. It currently has nine volumes in circulation, with the 10th volume slated to release on October 16, 2026 — right on the heels of the anime announcement.
The story follows Yuhi Takamiya, a first-year high school student who misses his entire first week of school due to a sudden illness and is convinced he’ll never make any friends. Hearing his plight, an alien named Nano shows up to help him. Nano eventually moves in with Yuhi — bringing along another alien lifeform named Nyoru Puppu Panpippi — and the stage is set for a heartwarming alien roommate comedy.
The alien-helper premise gives the series a fun sci-fi hook on top of its slice-of-life warmth, a combination that has clearly clicked with readers since 2024. With the anime now confirmed, the series looks set for an even bigger audience.
No broadcast window has been announced yet, but with staff and cast locked in, more details should follow soon. Fans can check the official website and the series’ X account for updates.
