Apothecary Diaries Season 3 Dominates
The third season of The Apothecary Diaries premiered on NTV on October 2 at 11:00 p.m., earning a 4.8% rating in the Kanto region — an impressive debut for a late-night anime slot. The series, based on Natsu Hyuga’s light novels, continues to be one of the biggest non-shonen hits in anime, and these ratings suggest the third season is off to a roaring start. For comparison, the broadcast came second only to the long-running heavyweights of the week.
Tougen Anki’s new Nikko Kegon Falls arc also debuted that same evening at 11:30 p.m. with a 2.7% rating, a respectable number that shows the battle series’ growing popularity ahead of its new storyline.
The Week’s Top Performers
As always, the long-running family staples led the pack. Sazae-san topped the chart at 7.9%, followed by Detective Conan at 5.6% and Chibi Maruko-chan at 5.3%. Elsewhere, Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 3: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke aired its final episode to a 3.4% rating, while Doraemon and Crayon Shin-chan pulled in 3.2% and 2.8% respectively.
A full-series rebroadcast of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba on Fuji TV drew 2.4%, proving the franchise still commands an audience even on a re-airing. The TV ratings estimate the percentage of the population watching each program, based on surveyed households in Japan’s Kanto region, and do not include time-shifted recordings.
