By Jon Moxley rarely gets pinned on AEW television — but on the October 14 episode of AEW Dynamite, it happened, and it happened clean. The show opened with a trios match pitting the Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Gabe Kidd & Daniel Garcia) against the Don Callis Family (Mark Davis, Jake Doyle & Wardlow), and the finish left fans stunned.

Jake Doyle pinned Moxley to win the match for his team — a massive result given that Moxley was last pinned on AEW TV back in April by Will Ospreay. The timing could hardly be more significant: the pin came just days ahead of their scheduled showdown for the AEW Continental Championship at AEW WrestleDream.
A Statement Ahead of WrestleDream
Doyle now carries serious momentum into WrestleDream, having scored a clean pinfall over one of AEW’s most protected stars. For Moxley, the loss raises questions about whether the Continental Champion is slipping — or whether Doyle simply had his number on the night.
The Dynamite crowd clearly didn’t see it coming, and the result immediately became the talk of the wrestling world on social media, with fans debating what it means for the title picture heading into Saturday’s pay-per-view.
What Comes Next
With WrestleDream now just days away, all eyes will be on whether Moxley can bounce back and retain his championship — or whether Jake Doyle’s historic win was a preview of a title change. The rest of Dynamite’s live coverage continued after the opening shocker, but the night already belonged to Doyle.
