By Jung Yong Hwa is at it again, and poor Choi Yang Rak is bearing the brunt of it. The upcoming romance drama “Oh! My Guard” has just dropped new stills featuring the veteran actor’s special appearance, and they paint a hilariously chaotic picture of life on set.

The stills show Choi Yang Rak as Kim Hyun Chul, the drama-within-the-drama’s beleaguered director. He’s the man supposedly in charge of the production starring global top star Uhm Tae Bong — except Uhm Tae Bong, played by Jung Yong Hwa, is an A-list actor with firm standards of his own and a fatal flaw, and he keeps throwing the director into unexpected situations.
A Director Constantly At His Wits’ End
The released images capture Choi Yang Rak looking utterly exasperated, caught in the whirlwind created by his star. His character is constantly flustered, at a loss for what to do as Uhm Tae Bong bulldozes through his firmly held standards. It’s a classic clash of authority versus star power — and from the look of these stills, it’s played for maximum comedy.
The production team praised the pairing, saying Choi Yang Rak “added vitality to every scene with his unique, seasoned acting skills and witty chemistry with Jung Yong Hwa.” They teased that the unexpected synergy between the top star and the constantly flustered director will be “another highlight of the show” — suggesting the behind-the-scenes chaos is half the fun.
What Is “Oh! My Guard” About?
The drama tells the unpredictable love story of Uhm Tae Bong, an A-list actor hiding a fatal flaw, and Oh Hae Ra (Hong Seung Hee), a mysterious woman who believes she is Cha Hong Doo, the female lead of his drama. The setup promises plenty of mistaken identity, on-set drama, and romance woven through the chaos.
With veteran talent like Choi Yang Rak joining the mix, the supporting bench looks strong. The director-versus-star dynamic alone could carry a subplot, and fans of Jung Yong Hwa’s comedic timing — most recently seen flexing his acting muscles across K-dramas — should have plenty to look forward to.
“Oh! My Guard” premieres on October 24 at 10:50 p.m. KST.
