Sylvester Stallone Has ‘Millions of Regrets’ About Doing His Own Stunts: ‘I’m An Idiot for Doing That’

Sylvester Stallone has opened up about the brutal physical price of his action career, telling Fox News Digital he has “millions of regrets” about doing his own stunts — and calling himself an “idiot” for it.

The 80-year-old Rocky and Rambo icon said he could spend hours listing his individual injuries, which compounded over decades of daredevil work. The worst damage came from The Expendables: nine back operations, three neck fusions, both shoulders ripped out, and eye procedures.

Never The Same After Expendables

Stallone has previously described the infamous on-set moment with co-star Steve Austin, whose slam into a wall dislocated his shoulders and fractured his neck, leading to a metal plate and multiple spinal fusions. He admitted he has never been “quite the same” since the surgeries and now has to “make peace with the pain as much as you can.”

The career that began with First Blood in 1982 spanned the Rambo franchise, the Expendables series, Escape Plan, and his dramatic breakthrough Rocky — but the toughness he projected on screen hid a body breaking down behind the scenes.

A Warning To Younger Stars

His biggest takeaway after decades of stunt work: “let other people do their job.” Stallone urged up-and-coming action stars not to showboat: “You cannot beat gravity — when you hit the ground, you lose, and it’s going to come back.” Asked whether he’s proud of the injuries, he answered plainly: “I’m proud that I broke myself in pieces? Like, duh, no.”
