Same Memory, Opposite Stories
Directed by Jo Young Min (“You and Everything Else”), “The Perfect Lie” centers on a chilling premise: a man and a woman give completely opposite accounts of the same memory, clashing fiercely as they each fight for their version of the truth.
Yoo Yeon Seok stars as Min Joon Ho, opposite Seo Hyun Jin as Kang Ji Sun. The teaser opens on what looks like a picture-perfect first date — stolen glances, careful touches, a romantic haze. Then the mood shatters when Kang Ji Sun’s narration cuts through: “Because that’s what life is: unpredictable.”
The Investigation Tightens
From there, the teaser spirals into a fast-paced sequence of running, collapsing, and escalating confrontation. The central incident becomes murkier as police officer Lee Hwa Young (Ok Ja Yeon) steps into the investigation, further complicating the search for what really happened “that day.”
The supporting cast — Kim Ji Hyun as Kang Ji Eun, Lee Chun Hee as Kim Hyung Soo, and Oh Dong Min as Park Joong Hyun — appear with enigmatic expressions that only deepen the mystery. As the truth grows harder to pin down, even the people the two leads once trusted become suspect.
When Does “The Perfect Lie” Premiere?
“The Perfect Lie” premieres October 30 at 9:50 p.m. KST on MBC. With two leads giving everything in a battle of memories and a mystery that keeps twisting, this psychological thriller is shaping up to be a late-October must-watch.
