Adam Copeland has announced that 2027 will be his final year as a professional wrestler — but AEW has not finalized plans for his farewell match yet. No date, no venue, no opponent: everything about the legend’s last ride is still up in the air. (Credits: Ringside News)
According to Fightful Select, which followed up with an AEW source after Copeland’s retirement announcement, nothing is set in stone. The company knows the timeline, but the actual farewell — when, where and against whom — is still being worked out.
Toronto Is Only a Possibility for Now
The AEW source floated Toronto as a possibility, which makes sense given Copeland’s Canadian roots and deep connection to the area. But that is speculation, not a company plan. There is currently no confirmed venue, date or official announcement about where his final match will take place.
Khan Confirms the Plan Was Always There
The update follows Tony Khan‘s revelation during the AEW WrestleDream media call that Copeland had already told him privately that 2027 would be his last year. Khan was discussing Copeland’s announcement from the October 14 episode of Dynamite/Collision, confirming the moment was planned in advance — even if the farewell itself remains a blank page.
Copeland made the call after defeating Josh Alexander in a WrestleDream Clockwork Carnage qualifier, and he did not hide the physical toll: his TLC match with Christian Cage at AEW All Out left him with three broken ribs and a collapsed lung — injuries he says happened within the first five minutes.
Even battered, Copeland has major goals left. The AEW World Championship remains one of them. For now, the only certainty is that 2027 closes the book on one of wrestling’s greatest careers — everything else is still to be decided.
