By Longtime WWE fans got a serious nostalgia hit in Kitchener, Ontario, as Shawn Spears dusted off his old Perfect 10 entrance theme during a recent WWE NXT live event.

A Throwback Entrance in Kitchener
Spears competed at NXT’s live event in Kitchener, Ontario, on October 15, teaming with Shiloh Hill, Tavion Heights, and Tony D’Angelo in a multi-man tag team match against BirthRight. But the surprise came before the bell even rang: as Spears made his entrance, out blasted the theme music associated with his old Tye Dillinger character — the Perfect 10 gimmick that powered his rise through NXT beginning in 2015.
For fans who remember that era, the reaction was instant. The Perfect 10 character became a cult phenomenon largely because of the constant “10” chants that followed Dillinger everywhere, turning his entrance into one of the most recognizable crowd rituals in all of NXT. Hearing that theme again was an immediate time machine back to one of the most popular versions of his WWE career.
Nostalgia or Something More?
What makes the moment especially intriguing is how far Spears has traveled since the Perfect 10 days. He left WWE, reinvented himself, and then made a surprise return to the company in 2024 on NXT — pointedly dropping the Tye Dillinger identity and working under the Shawn Spears name. Since coming back, he has carved out a new lane as the leader of The Culling, with Niko Vance and Izzi Dame connected to the group.
That context makes the theme’s return a genuine head-scratcher. WWE live events are frequently used to experiment with entrances, characters, and crowd reactions, so one nostalgic walk-out doesn’t automatically mean the Perfect 10 is coming back to NXT television. But it does show WWE knows exactly what that music means to the fans — and isn’t afraid to play with it.
Whether this was a one-night love letter to the Kitchener crowd or the first breadcrumb of a bigger callback, only time will tell. Either way, for one night, the 10 chants echoed again.
