WWE could be getting a Hollywood-sized surprise in the form of Russell Crowe, as Drew McIntyre has revealed the Oscar-winning actor is genuinely excited about doing something together with him in WWE — with WrestleMania even mentioned as a possibility.

From Film Sets to the Squared Circle

McIntyre and Crowe recently spent months together filming movies, including projects like Highlander and The Last Druid, and the two have clearly struck up a real friendship. The Scottish Warrior has been open about how much he learned from the veteran actor, previously saying it was amazing to spend months under his learning tree. That bond, it turns out, has carried over into conversations about stepping through the WWE curtain together.

Speaking in a new interview with The Joe Vulpis Podcast, McIntyre revealed that Crowe has brought up the idea more than once. “Russell was legitimately talking about he wanted to do something a couple of times,” McIntyre said. “He got all excited about us doing something together on the same team and talked about WrestleMania or whatever.”

A Heel Team With a Lackey

What makes the pitch even more interesting is that Crowe came to the table with creative ideas of his own. McIntyre explained that the actor pitched the duo working as heels, complete with a manager-like assistant figure — “an assistant lackey,” as McIntyre put it — riding alongside them. “He had some great ideas. He was willing to do it,” McIntyre added, before joking about the one obvious obstacle: “We have to talk with the bosses about the numbers because I’m assuming he’s not cheap.”

The idea fits a long WWE tradition of blockbuster celebrity crossovers at The Showcase of the Immortals, from movie stars to musicians to athletes who have all stepped into the ring at WrestleMania over the years. A Crowe-McIntyre heel pairing would instantly become one of the most talked-about attractions on the card, pairing one of wrestling’s most decorated stars with one of Hollywood’s most recognizable faces.

McIntyre, who has been leaning into what he calls his “Hollywood Drew” era in a separate recent interview, clearly sees the entertainment crossover appeal. Whether WWE’s brass are willing to meet Crowe’s price remains the open question, but the enthusiasm on both sides is real — and in wrestling, that is usually where the biggest WrestleMania moments begin.
