Crunchyroll Launches English Dub for The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 This Friday

Dub fans don’t have to wait long. Crunchyroll announced on Thursday that it will begin streaming an English dub for The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 starting Friday, running alongside the ongoing simulcast. The dub arrives just weeks after the season’s October 2 premiere.

The third season, adapted from Hyuganatsu and Touko Shino’s light novel series, is airing in NTV’s Friday Anime Night block across 29 affiliated channels. The first cours is currently on air, with the second cours set for April 2027. Crunchyroll is handling the worldwide simulcast and now the English dub as well.

Who’s Behind the Season 3 Dub

The English dub’s supporting cast features additional voices by Paxton Lee, Nasim Benelkour, Mauricio Ortiz-Segura, Brandon Acosta, Daniela Valkova, and Elizabeth Hohman. On the production side, studio producers Justin Cook, Michael Harcourt, and Nathanael Harrison lead the team, with talent coordination by Tara A. Williams and Brittni Hurley and engineering management by Gino Palencia and Brandon Peters.

The season’s soundtrack is stacked too: yorushika performs the opening theme “Kumo o Nukekazashimo e Watashidake” (I Am Alone, Breaking Through the Clouds Downwind), while Eve handles the ending theme “AIYOU.”

A Franchise on the Rise

Maomao’s palace mysteries continue to expand well beyond television. A brand-new film, The Apothecary Diaries: The Deceased Empress’ Treasure, featuring an original story by novel author Hyuganatsu, opens in Japanese theaters on December 11. And in a major move, a live-action series is set to debut on Amazon Prime Video worldwide in 2028.

For the uninitiated, the story follows Maomao, a sharp-witted apothecary’s daughter who is kidnapped and sold into service in the emperor’s rear palace. Her extensive medical knowledge — and a certain perceptive head eunuch named Jinshi — drag her into palace intrigue, poison tastings, and mysteries that have captivated readers since the novels began serialization on Shosetsuka ni Naro back in 2011. J-Novel Club publishes the novels digitally, with print editions and multiple manga adaptations available through Square Enix and Viz Media.

The first anime season premiered in October 2023 with a three-episode debut across two cours, and the second season followed in January 2025 — both streamed by Crunchyroll with English dubs. Season 3 looks set to keep that momentum rolling.
