Kodansha USA Publishing has announced a fresh batch of English manga releases, combining new licenses like Jackpot Girls, Powerless Without You and Occult Times with a slate of Kodansha Print Club physical editions scheduled from January to April 2027. The announcement was made on Thursday, giving manga collectors plenty to look forward to in the new year.
The Print Club lineup covers a wide range of genres, from revenge thrillers and idol mysteries to surreal short-story collections and shojo romance. With release dates now locked in for the first third of 2027, fans can start planning their shelves accordingly.
The January 2027 Lineup
The new year kicks off with three heavy hitters. Burn the House Down, from creator Moyashi Fujisawa, follows Shizuka Yamauchi, a woman who takes on a false identity and infiltrates a wealthy household as a housekeeper to uncover the truth about a fire thirteen years earlier — a blaze her mother was forced to take the blame for. Her target: Makiko, the beautiful second wife of Dr. Mitarai, a woman hiding sinister secrets of her own.
Also from Fujisawa comes When Arika Went Missing, with art by Kumakazu. Beloved idol Arika Mamiya has been missing for a year, and her best friend Nana Miyajima refuses to give up the search. To find answers, Nana does the unthinkable for a rude, tone-deaf loner — she infiltrates Arika’s idol group herself, fighting through auditions and fan rankings while uncovering the ugly world lurking beneath the sparkle of idol life.
Rounding out January is Manchuria Opium Squad, by Shikako and Tsukasa Monma. Set in the corrupt Japanese puppet state of Manchukuo, it follows young Isamu Higata, who uses his botanical expertise to brew dangerously potent opium in a desperate bid to save his doomed family — only to be dragged deeper into a treacherous world of gangs and an oppressive state closing in on him.
February to April: Cats, Romance and Apocalypse
February brings Kamakura Bakeneko Club: Uncanny Cat Tales from Daisuke Igarashi, the acclaimed artist behind Children of the Sea and Witches. In the ancient coastal city of Kamakura, rumor says the elusive Bakeneko Club can reunite you with a lost or departed cat — but in a place where the boundary between worlds wears thin, those stories may awaken more than curiosity.
Igarashi also headlines March with Umwelt and Other Stories, a ten-story collection spanning modern folklore to surreal science fiction. March also delivers Futarijime Romantic by Chihiro Kanisawa, a shojo rom-com about Kokomi Kumamori, a hopeless romantic whose childhood promise of a storybook love story collides with a boy who shares her prince’s name — but none of his charm.
April’s standout is Ark of the Canaries by Misaki Takamatsu, in which upbeat teen Yuri’s walk home is interrupted by a flying mass that swallows the sky, raining destruction — leaving her alone in a quiet place with only a man in a lab coat for company as she fights to find her way back home.
With new licenses including Jackpot Girls, Powerless Without You and Occult Times joining the Print Club slate, Kodansha USA is clearly stacking 2027 with variety — revenge, mystery, history, horror, romance and apocalypse all under one roof.
