According to a report by Star News on October 16, an administration official said the relevant department is reviewing the re-enlistment procedures now that the first-instance verdict has been finalized.
What Happened
Earlier this month, the Seoul Western District Court sentenced Song Mino to one year in prison with a two-year suspended sentence for violating military service laws. The idol did not file an appeal within the seven-day appeal window, so the verdict was upheld.
The Military Manpower Administration had previously announced that once the verdict was finalized, Song Mino would be required to serve again for the number of days he was absent without permission — 102 days in total.
A Serious Matter in South Korea
Military service is a legal obligation for able-bodied men in South Korea, and unauthorized absences from social service duty are treated as criminal violations. The suspended sentence means Song Mino will not serve prison time as long as he meets the conditions of the suspension, but he must now complete the remaining service days he missed.
The re-enlistment procedures are expected to be confirmed in the coming days, which will determine when the WINNER member returns to duty.
