Drew McIntyre Shuts Down Retirement Talk Despite Growing Hollywood Career

Drew McIntyre is not going anywhere. Despite landing major Hollywood roles and turning 41, the Scottish Warrior has flat-out rejected any talk of retirement — declaring that wrestling is still his full-time job and he plans to be in WWE for years to come.

McIntyre, who has been away from WWE television for over five months while working on acting projects including Highlander and Agent of Shadows, opened up about balancing both careers on Stephanie McMahon’s “What’s Your Story?” podcast.

“This Is Home. I’m Not Going Anywhere.”

McIntyre revealed he already has an understanding with WWE President Nick Khan and Paul “Triple H” Levesque about outside opportunities: “If something good comes up, we do that. But I’m a full-time wrestler. I just turned 41.”

His message to fans was even more direct: “I’m going to be here for years. So don’t expect me to disappear anytime soon.”

The Longest Absence Of His Career

The current break is the longest of McIntyre’s career — over five months, longer even than when he tore his biceps after returning to WWE in 2017 (about three months out). This time, though, the absence hasn’t been purely injury-driven.

McIntyre explained that he had already been discussing his WWE comeback after finishing Highlander when another acting opportunity suddenly came his way through Russell Crowe. WWE ultimately decided it made more sense to keep him off television until filming was completed.

Between the Hollywood momentum and the retirement shutdown, McIntyre’s eventual return — with Roman Reigns reportedly in his sights — is shaping up to be one of WWE’s biggest comebacks in years.
