By Kim Seung Hye, the South Korean comedian, has left fans surprised after candidly opening up about the aftereffects of childbirth in a new video. The comedian, once famous as a “beautiful comedian,” admitted she was taken aback by just how much her body had swollen since giving birth to her daughter.
On October 15, a YouTube channel uploaded a video titled “Postpartum Care Center Might Really Be Heaven…?! First Childcare Challenge for New Parents,” in which the new mother toured a postpartum care center. After looking around the facility, Kim Seung Hye expressed satisfaction, saying, “It feels good just to lie down.”
A startling change in her body
But the comedian soon turned to her real worry: her increasingly swollen face. Kim Seung Hye confessed, “Strangely, my face keeps getting more swollen. It seems even more swollen than when I was pregnant. What should I do?”
She added that the swelling had spread everywhere, telling viewers, “My feet look like elephant feet, and my whole body feels more swollen.” The moment that especially caught attention was her admission that her feet had not swelled even during pregnancy, but had now turned into “elephant feet.”
Husband Kim Hae Jun’s expert massage
Although she was wearing compression bands, her legs remained noticeably puffy, so her husband, fellow comedian Kim Hae Jun, stepped in to give her a leg massage. As he worked, he reassured her: “This is real swelling. I’ve experienced it myself. Fat and swelling are completely different. This is swelling that can be reduced. Don’t worry. There’s nothing to be concerned about.”
The results left both of them amazed. After the massage, the thickness of the leg that had been massaged was visibly reduced compared to the one that had not. Kim Seung Hye exclaimed, “The difference is incredible. Can it really be this big? It’s amazing,” unable to hide her surprise.
There was even a difference in skin color — the massaged area looked noticeably paler. Kim Hae Jun joked, “It’s swelling. When an expert’s hands are involved, there’s bound to be a difference,” and explained, “That means the blood is circulating. I helped improve the blood flow by applying pressure with my hands.”
New parents after two years of marriage
Kim Seung Hye married fellow comedian Kim Hae Jun in 2024, and the couple welcomed their daughter on September 29, two years after their wedding. The honest glimpse into their new-parent life has resonated with viewers, drawing warm reactions from fans rooting for the couple’s first steps into parenthood.
