KJ Apa is ready to come home to Riverdale — or at least its zombie-infested version. The actor has personally asked Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, his former Riverdale showrunner, for a cameo in the upcoming Afterlife with Archie series adaptation.

Archie Wants Back In
Apa played Archie Andrews through Riverdale’s seven-season run from 2017 to 2023, and he told Entertainment Weekly that he has already put the word in with Aguirre-Sacasa, who serves as chief creative officer of Archie Comics and co-wrote the Afterlife with Archie comics.
“I spoke to Roberto, who was our showrunner for Riverdale, who’s also showrunning that show,” Apa said. “And I’m really excited. I can’t wait to see who they cast as Archie and the gang.“
Disney+ Sets Halloween 2027 Premiere
The series adaptation of the horror-tinged Archie comics has been ordered by Disney+ with a Halloween 2027 premiere planned — fitting timing for a story that pits Riverdale’s gang against the undead. Who Apa might play, he admitted he does not know: “I don’t know who I’d play.” But fans would love to see the original Archie haunt the new Riverdale in any capacity.
