By Will Ospreay has a request for Adam Copeland before the Rated-R Superstar hangs up his boots. After Copeland announced on AEW Dynamite that he will be retiring from professional wrestling in 2027, Ospreay told 1010XL he wants Copeland to “save a date” for him before the farewell.

Copeland, who also qualified for the Clockwork Carnage match at AEW WrestleDream on the same night, revealed that this will be the final run of his legendary career. For Ospreay, the news hit on a personal level — the AEW World Champion grew up watching Copeland and found a mentor in him when it mattered most.
“He Was Great to Be an Ear”
Ospreay credited Copeland with guiding him through one of the darkest periods of his career. “When I was going in for neck surgery, he was amazing with all of that,” Ospreay said. “He was great to be an ear and a voice to listen to because he went through it himself.”
“A lot of people say never meet your heroes, but meeting him brought me such relief,” he added, saying he is “super grateful for his presence in AEW.”
A Dream Match Before the Goodbye
Ospreay made clear that while WrestleDream’s Clockwork Carnage will revolve around Copeland’s moment, he still has one more ask. “I’m flattered to be in the Clockwork Carnage with him,” he said. “But I just want to say to Adam Copeland: you’ve got to save a date for me, boss.”
A dream match between two of the most decorated performers of their generations — before Copeland walks away for good — would be one of the most significant bouts of 2027. Whether AEW can make it happen before the clock runs out remains to be seen.
