Mercedes Moné is wrestling through real pain — and she is not shy about saying so. After retaining the AEW Women’s World Championship over Thekla at WrestleDream 2026 on October 18, Moné revealed she had undergone surgery for a broken nose — and that the injury is still not healed.

“It’s still very much broken”
Moné originally suffered the broken nose at the 2026 AEW All In pay-per-view, where she defeated Willow Nightingale at Wembley to win the title. She was sidelined from in-ring action until late September before returning to competition.
Now one month and a half post-surgery, she told the WrestleDream post-show: “It’s still very much broken, and I’m pushing through every single week but I love what I do, I love defending my Women’s Championship, and I’m here to be the best, and just having a broken nose, it’s not gonna faze me; it’s not gonna stop me.”
A full-circle moment at Wembley
The champion called the All In victory “definitely one of the hardest-fought battles I’ve ever had and one of my greatest matches and greatest moments in my whole career,” adding: “Just a full circle moment for me as well.”
Moné has now recorded two successful title defenses. With the next AEW pay-per-view, Full Gear, set for November 14, the question is who steps up to challenge — and whether Moné will finally get to heal up before then.
