NEXZ’s Yu Suffers Wardrobe Malfunction Mid-Backflip as Fans Slam Stylist

NEXZ Yu Mid-Backflip on Stage

NEXZ kicked off their first-ever Asian tour in Seoul this weekend, and member Yu gave fans a moment nobody saw coming. During the group’s October 17 show, the idol’s trousers slipped down in the middle of a backflip, turning a routine performance into a viral wardrobe malfunction — and sparking a wave of fan anger aimed squarely at the styling team.

The JYP Entertainment boy group launched their SAUCIN’ THE WORLD Asia tour with two nights in Seoul on October 17 and 18, marking the rookie act’s first Asian tour following their earlier Japanese runs. For the performance in question, the members wore black-and-red outfits, with Yu dressed in what appeared to be a jumpsuit with the upper half hanging loose around his waist. Fans noticed him tugging at the outfit more than once as it rode low during the set.

Then came the flip. Yu launched into a backflip — a signature move for the athletic idol — and stuck the landing cleanly. But his trousers slid down to his waist in the process. Yu recovered fast, fixing his outfit and laughing through the visible embarrassment as the crowd reacted.

Fans Praise Yu, Roast the Styling Team

Clips of the moment spread across social platforms within hours, and the verdict was nearly unanimous: Yu handled the situation like a total professional, but whoever dressed him had no business sending him on stage in loose trousers for a flip-heavy set.

Fan comments ranged from sympathetic to furious. Many pointed out that Yu is known for his flips and b-boy moves, making the loose outfit choice baffling. “They know Yu flips and bboys all the time, so why would you not secure his pants well enough to prevent this,” one fan wrote, capturing the mood of thousands. Others raised the double standard, arguing the outrage would have been far louder had the same malfunction happened to a girl group.

Some concertgoers said they deleted their own recordings out of respect for Yu, noting that he landed the flip safely and carried on without missing a beat. The overwhelming sentiment was admiration for the idol and frustration with the team behind the scenes.

Night Two Goes Off Without a Hitch

The story got its happy ending on October 18, when Yu nailed the same flip with his outfit fully intact — and bandmate Hyui rushed over to celebrate with him on stage. Crisis averted, wardrobe secured, and the tour rolls on to its next stops.

NEXZ’s most recent comeback continues to build momentum for the JYP rookies, and if the Seoul kickoff proved anything, it is that Yu can handle just about anything a live stage throws at him.
