A Series Months in the Making

The two first clashed on September 16 on AEW Dynamite, where Jericho picked up the win. Wayne evened the score at AEW Grand Slam France, setting up the decisive third encounter at WrestleDream. With the series knotted at one apiece, both men agreed to settle it once and for all on one of AEW’s biggest stages of the year.

Chaos in the Closing Moments

The finish was pure chaos. A referee bump left the official down, and Wayne struck first with a low blow — but Jericho had come prepared, wearing a groin protector cup that absorbed the shot. The veteran returned the favor moments later with a low blow of his own and set up for the Judas Effect. But Jericho missed, and Wayne pounced, rolling him up for the pinfall to win the series.

It’s a massive win for the young Wayne over one of wrestling’s most decorated veterans — and proof he can hang with the best on the big stage.
