One of the most emotional nights in AEW history almost had a very different theme. Tony Khan revealed during the WrestleDream post-event media scrum that the September 30 Dynamite was originally supposed to be the show’s seven-year anniversary celebration.
The day after the 2026 AEW All Out pay-per-view, Benjamin Satterley, known to fans as PAC, passed away. The following Wednesday, AEW scrapped its anniversary plans and presented a tribute show in Satterley’s memory instead.
Honoring PAC’s Life Over a Milestone
Khan explained why the anniversary went unmentioned for weeks: celebrating PAC’s life mattered far more than marking seven years of Wednesday Night Dynamite. He called the tribute show “the perfect tribute” and said everyone involved gave their very best for Satterley.
The night featured a multitude of tributes to Benjamin Satterley, including a heartfelt one from his wife, Natalie. Khan stressed that the Pittsburgh show was not about advertising WrestleDream or building toward Grand Slam France — it was purely about putting together a one-night tribute that encapsulated everything PAC accomplished.
AEW’s Seven Years of Dynamite
Wednesday Night Dynamite has been the flagship of AEW since the company launched in 2019, making this September its seventh anniversary. The company has since quietly celebrated the milestone, with Khan finally addressing it publicly at the WrestleDream scrum.
The wrestling world continues to mourn PAC, whose high-flying style and intensity made him a fan favorite across AEW, Dragon Gate, and WWE’s cruiserweight division.
