Fox Corp. is changing legal leadership at the top. The company announced on October 19 that Adam Ciongoli, its chief legal and policy officer, will not renew his contract and will step down from the role effective December 1.

Ciongoli won’t be going far, though. He will transition into a special advisor role at Fox, serving in that capacity through June 2028.
Trutanich Takes the Helm
Taking over the top legal job is Nicholas Trutanich, currently Fox Corp.’s executive vice president and principal deputy general counsel. Effective December 1, he becomes general counsel of the company, reporting directly to executive chair and CEO Lachlan Murdoch.
Murdoch praised both men in the announcement, saying Trutanich “has been a critical member of the FOX team since joining the Company five years ago and will bring deep legal, litigation and compliance experience to this expanded role.”
Three Years at the Top
Ciongoli joined Fox in 2023, and Murdoch thanked him for “many immense contributions over the last three years.” Before Fox, Ciongoli had a long run as a corporate legal heavyweight, including stints at Campbell Soup Co., Lincoln Financial Group, Willis Group Holdings, and Time Warner Europe — plus time as an advisor to then-U.S. attorney general John Ashcroft and as a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr.
“It has been a privilege and an honor to be a part of the FOX family,” Ciongoli said of his departure.
The change comes during a week of notable C-suite movement across media — with Netflix also replacing its chief content officer — signaling how much the industry’s biggest players are retooling for what’s next.
