Kyle Fletcher didn’t need a team of writers to invent his AEW persona — he was building it at age 10 in a video game. The Australian star says his current character isn’t far off from what he pictured as a kid dreaming of becoming a wrestler.
Speaking to Westwood One Sports Night, Fletcher reflected on how his on-screen self lines up with his childhood imagination, calling the question an interesting one before answering in the affirmative.

Everything He Loved as a Kid
Fletcher described himself as an accumulation of everything he loved growing up — the wrestlers he watched, the tattoos, collecting Pokemon cards, music, and dressing sharp (including a fondness for pink). Looking at himself now, he said, everything makes sense: he’s just the same person, “a larger version” of the kid he was. His verdict on the character: hand 10-year-old Kyle a copy of SmackDown vs. Raw 2009, and he’d have built exactly what’s standing in front of you in Create-A-Wrestler.
A Star Still Climbing
At under 30, Fletcher is already considered one of the best young wrestlers in the world, and his stock keeps rising in All Elite Wrestling — most recently in a high-profile AEW World Tag Team Title challenge alongside Kevin Knight at WrestleDream 2026. If his childhood blueprint got him this far, the ceiling is only getting higher.
