Psyren fans who prefer dubs have some good news: Crunchyroll has officially announced an English dub for the Psyren anime, and it won’t be a long wait — the dubbed version begins streaming on Monday, just weeks after the anime’s premiere on October 5.
The dub cast has been assembled under dub director Dani Chambers, with Zach Bolton producing, James Cheek adapting the script, William Dewell mixing, and Jose Sandoval engineering the audio. Image courtesy of Sony Music © Toshiaki Iwashiro, Shueisha / PSYREN Secret Society.
A Long-Awaited Adaptation Finally Gets Its Dub
Psyren, based on the manga by Toshiaki Iwashiro, finally got its anime adaptation this fall after years of fan requests. The series is directed by Katsumi Ono at studio Satelight, with Shin Yoshida overseeing the scripts and Akira Ōkuma handling character designs.
The music team is stacked too — Takashi Ōmama, Tatsuhiko Saiki, and Shū Kanematsu are composing the score. CLAN QUEEN performs the opening theme “Warning!!” while Who-ya Extended handles the ending song “ICARUS.”
Story and Global Release
The story follows high schooler Ageha Yoshina, who picks up a mysterious “red phone card” from a public telephone booth. Days later, his childhood friend Sakurako Amamiya — who had the same card — vanishes without a trace, pulling Ageha into rumors of nationwide disappearances.
Crunchyroll is streaming Psyren worldwide excluding Japan and China. The anime even got a red-carpet moment earlier this month — its second episode had its world premiere at the Global Stage Hollywood Film Festival on October 3 at the Chinese Theater, with Iwashiro himself in attendance.
With the dub arriving Monday, both sub and dub fans will be able to follow Ageha’s descent into the Psyren world at their own pace.
