According to reporting from the BBC, the woman told detectives she met Brand at a bar in Soho in 2004, where the two spoke about his Channel 4 show “Big Brother’s Big Mouth” — the program that had made him a household name in Britain at the time.
“Like a Clown”
In the recorded interview played to the court, the woman alleged that Brand grinned at her “like a clown” before pulling her into a bathroom and sexually assaulting her. The testimony forms part of the prosecution’s case in the six-week trial currently underway.
The woman is the third complainant to be heard from during the proceedings, which have drawn intense media attention given Brand’s former prominence as a comedian, actor, and television presenter.
The Trial Continues
Brand has been one of Britain’s most recognizable entertainment figures of the past two decades, and the Southwark Crown Court trial marks a defining moment in a case that has been building since the original allegations surfaced. As the six-week trial moves forward, more testimony is expected in the coming days, with the jury continuing to hear the evidence presented by both sides.
