TNA Wrestling officially announced the signing of Shotzi Blackheart on October 19, and the former WWE star has made one thing clear: she’s not giving up her independent bookings any time soon.

Shotzi parted ways with WWE back in May 2025 when her contract was not renewed, and has since been rebuilding her career on the independent scene, most recently working with MLW. Now signed to TNA, she told Busted Open Radio that the indie grind is still very much part of the plan.
Why Indies Still Matter to Shotzi
“I’m still going to be busting my butt on the indies and taking as many bookings as possible, but TNA is where I’m at and I’m hoping to do some really fun things at TNA,” Shotzi said. “I’m really excited to work with all the girls there.”
The approach reflects how much of modern wrestling careers are built: a national TV platform for exposure, and independent dates for reps, income, and connection with fans. TNA’s scheduling has historically allowed its talent to work select outside dates, and Shotzi clearly intends to take full advantage.
Weekly TV Storytelling Is the Real Draw
Asked whether weekly television excites her, Shotzi didn’t hesitate. “That’s what really excites me because that’s my favorite part of pro wrestling — the storytelling and how wild the stories get,” she said. She pointed to the most recent episode of TNA programming, where she formed what she called a “little bond” with Rosemary and Allie, and said she’s eager to see where that storyline goes on television.
“I’m looking forward to having a lot of fun and focusing on a storyline,” she added — a sentiment that speaks to how much she values long-form character work over one-off appearances.
What This Means for TNA
TNA’s women’s division has been one of the promotion’s strongest selling points, and adding a performer with Shotzi’s mainstream name recognition — plus her willingness to stay active on the indies — is a notable get. Her bond with Rosemary and Allie suggests the creative team already has a direction for her, and her enthusiasm for weekly TV storytelling hints at a performer who wants to be a centerpiece, not a cameo.
