OpenAI Models Are Coming to Google Cloud's Model Garden

OpenAI and Google Cloud have struck a landmark partnership to bring OpenAI’s frontier models — and Codex agentic workflows — into Google Cloud’s Model Garden. Google Cloud customers will soon get native access to OpenAI models inside the environment where they already work.

Model Choice for Enterprise Workflows

The integration gives enterprises access to OpenAI’s models to power complex agentic workflows at scale, backed by Google Cloud’s data governance and high-performance infrastructure. For organizations in regulated industries, the deal pairs OpenAI’s frontier models with Google Cloud’s built-in access controls and centralized data governance — addressing one of the biggest blockers for enterprise AI adoption.

OpenAI says the partnership is about giving enterprises greater choice in how they discover and use frontier models, with a path from evaluation to broader adoption. The models will help companies modernize their software development lifecycle and build agentic workflows that change how people work.

Bought Through Google Cloud Marketplace

Google Cloud customers will be able to purchase OpenAI frontier models via Model Garden, with transactions running through the Google Cloud Marketplace. Notably, enterprises with existing Google Cloud spend commitments will be able to draw down those GCP commitments to pay for OpenAI model usage — a smart move that lowers the barrier for cloud customers to experiment.

Beyond Model Garden, OpenAI models will also be available in Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent, giving enterprise customers model-choice flexibility and the best model for each task.

Microsoft Remains Primary Partner

OpenAI was careful to note that Microsoft remains its primary cloud partner, a reminder that the Google Cloud deal is an expansion play rather than a defection. General availability is planned in the coming weeks, with early access requests already open. With Anthropic’s cloud partnerships also in flux, the race to be the model layer of every cloud is clearly heating up.
