Rodrigo Teixeira, the two-time Oscar-nominated producer behind “I’m Still Here” and “Call Me By Your Name”, is set to receive a brand-new honor. The Brazilian powerhouse will take home the inaugural Árbol de la Vida Visionary Award at the GuadaLAjara Film Festival (GLAFF) on November 6.

A Honor From Wagner Moura
The award will be presented by none other than Oscar-nominated actor Wagner Moura, ahead of a screening of James Gray’s “Paper Tiger” — the awards-season contender that Teixeira produced and which premiered to acclaim at Cannes. The Visionary Award recognizes individuals who have made a lasting impact on cinema and strengthened the ties between Latin America and the international film industry.
A Career of Auteur Cinema
Teixeira, founder of RT Features, has spent over two decades championing auteur cinema across continents. His credits read like a festival dream list: Luca Guadagnino’s “Call Me By Your Name”, Robert Eggers’ “The Witch” and “The Lighthouse”, Noah Baumbach’s “Frances Ha”, James Gray’s “Ad Astra” and “Armageddon Time” — and most recently Walter Salles’ Oscar-winning “I’m Still Here”, which earned him a Best Picture nomination.
He’s showing no signs of slowing down either. Gray has begun work on a new period-piece screenplay the pair aims to shoot in 2027, while Teixeira is also backing a new Brazilian police drama, Erico Rassi’s 1992-set “Die Like A Man”. For a producer who has quietly shaped some of the last decade’s finest films, the Visionary Award feels long overdue.
