Penta is the current Money in the Bank winner, but even he wasn’t prepared for the whirlwind before his World Heavyweight Championship match against Roman Reigns. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, the luchador revealed that backstage at the September 14 show in Mexico City was pure chaos — and it took him two full days to process what happened.

The Horse That Almost Didn’t Show

Fans saw Penta’s spectacular arrival on a horse — but behind the scenes, the animal nearly didn’t make it. “Two hours before my match, maybe three, so problems with the horse. It’s not here, maybe it’s delayed,” Penta recalled. At the same time, he was being yanked between makeup, ring practice, interviews and a meet-and-greet.

“Every time he finished one responsibility, somebody was waiting to send him somewhere else,” he said of that afternoon. Between facing Reigns for the first time ever, wrestling in front of his family in Mexico City, and the missing horse, Penta admitted: “I became crazy, bro.”

Two Days to Realize What Happened

When the match finally came, everything moved so fast that Penta could barely register it. It wasn’t until two days later, sitting alone in his garden, that the magnitude of the night finally hit him.

And once the bell rang, the chaos melted away. Facing Reigns gave Penta a new appreciation for the Tribal Chief, who he now calls “one of the best wrestlers, or the best wrestler in the universe” — praising Roman’s character work and in-ring control as operating on a completely different level.
