WWE Hall of Famer RVD believes he still has one more wrestling run left in him — and he thinks AEW would be the perfect place for it. Speaking on the 1 Of A Kind With RVD podcast, Van Dam named some very familiar faces he’d love to face if a run ever materialized.

“I think that I could have a really good run working with one of my peers: Chris Jericho, Christian, Edge,” RVD said, pointing toward veterans with whom he shares plenty of history. He added one more name: Jeff Hardy — his former rival, with whom he’d like “one more match.”
Why AEW Appeals to Him
Van Dam also gave AEW credit for simply surviving and thriving. He admitted that when the company first launched, he wasn’t convinced it would last, given how many well-funded wrestling promotions had disappeared over the years. But AEW has “proven themselves,” he said, filling a void in the wrestling world and continuing to grow.
What stands out most to RVD is the environment. He described AEW as more wrestler-driven — a place where talent feels free to express themselves and “do it their way,” in contrast to his WWE experience, where he felt some wrestlers were afraid for their jobs and hesitant to push back.
Just Ideas — For Now
None of this means RVD is actively lobbying Tony Khan to book those matches. He made it clear that Jericho, Christian Cage, Adam Copeland and Hardy are simply ideas he likes rather than matches he desperately wants to make happen — they just “sound like good ideas.”
Still, RVD has already stepped inside an AEW ring before, so another appearance wouldn’t come out of nowhere. This time, though, he’s thinking beyond a one-off — he believes there’s enough left in the tank for a real run alongside some very familiar faces.
