A Dark Romance on Noitamina
The Firefly Wedding anime debuted on October 9 and airs on Fuji TV’s Noitamina block on Fridays at 11:30 p.m. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs, bringing Oreko Tachibana’s manga to a global audience.
Behind the scenes, Takahiro Kamei (the 2022–2024 Urusei Yatsura reboot) directs at david production, with Yukiko Aikei designing the characters and Yūko Kakihara overseeing the scripts. NOGRID composes the music, while Iri performs the opening theme “Period” and TOOBOE performs the ending “Yumegokochi.”
The Story: A Proposal That Saves a Life
Satoko Kirigaya has everything — beauty, nobility, and marriageable age — but she is also terminally ill with only a short time left to live. Before she can secure a marriage that will prove her worth to her family, she becomes the target of the mysterious assassin Shinpei Gotō. To save herself, she makes a desperate proposal — of marriage. But when it comes to love, Shinpei takes “until death do we part” very seriously.
Tachibana launched the manga on Shogakukan’s Manga ONE app in January 2023; Viz Media publishes it in English, and the 13th volume released on October 19. A live-action TV adaptation is also on the way, slated to debut in 2027.
