Galileo Starring Elio Germano Boarded by Fandango

Galileo: Elio Germano Faces the Inquisition

The €8 million ($9 million) film blends drama and comedy, with Germano — who won top acting honors at Cannes for Daniele Luchetti’s “Our Life” — playing Galileo engaged in confrontation with his inquisitor before the trial over his “Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems.” The treatise demonstrated the truth of the Copernican system over the Ptolemaic one, proving for the first time that the Earth revolves around the Sun — the claim that put him before the Roman Inquisition.

A New Chapter for Italian Cinema Abroad

Fandango’s international push comes at a time when Italian cinema is fighting for global attention. With buyers gathering at the MIA Market in Rome, “Galileo” arrives as a period drama with obvious festival pedigree and a star turn from one of Italy’s most decorated actors.

Distributors and release dates will be confirmed as sales progress.
