Kacey Musgraves is keeping her prolific streak going. The country star will release a 16-song album of all-new material titled “Middle of Nowhere Vol. 2: Tex Mex Tapes” on January 15, 2027 via Lost Highway Records — just eight months after Vol. 1.
According to the announcement, the album picks up where Vol. 1 left off, expanding on themes of solitude, contentment, and finding beauty in the in-between. Four of the 16 songs are sung entirely in Spanish, including a newly recorded Spanish version of “Uncertain, TX” featuring Intocable.

Why Kacey Musgraves’ “Middle of Nowhere Vol. 2: Tex Mex Tapes” matters
Musgraves leaning into Spanish-language material is a notable creative swing — four full songs in Spanish plus the Intocable collaboration signal a real Tex-Mex turn rather than a gimmick. Coming only eight months after the first volume, the January 2027 release suggests Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 were conceived as a paired project, a middle-of-nowhere diptych about sitting still and being content.
What to expect from the January 15, 2027 release
With 16 tracks and a Lost Highway backing, Vol. 2 is positioned as a full-length statement rather than a leftovers collection. Fans of the intimate, reflective sound of recent Musgraves records should expect more of that — now with a border-town flavor. Expect single announcements and possibly a tour announcement to follow in the coming weeks.
