'Law & Order: SVU' Season 28: Stephanie March Returns as Alexandra Cabot in Episode 9

March has played Cabot across more than 100 episodes. She was a main cast member from Season 2 in 2000 through Season 5 in 2003, when Cabot faked her own death and entered witness protection — one of the show’s most dramatic exits. She has since returned for guest stints in Seasons 6, 10, 11, 13 and 19, and carried the character into the 2006 spinoff Conviction.

Stephanie March’s SVU Return: What to Expect

Cabot has always been the steady legal anchor opposite Olivia Benson’s squad, and her returns typically coincide with a high-stakes prosecution. No plot details for the Season 28 episode have been revealed yet, but fans of the long-running NBC procedural know a Cabot appearance usually means a case big enough to need the DA’s sharpest ADA.

SVU, now in its record-extending 28th season, remains television’s longest-running live-action primetime series — and every return of a legacy character like Cabot is a reminder of the two-and-a-half-decade history the show keeps building on.
