Kumo Kagyu’s Moscow 2160 Manga Ends With 5th Volume, Ships December 25

The end is near for Kumo Kagyu’s Cold War thriller. Amazon Japan is listing the fifth compiled volume of the Moscow 2160 manga as the series’ final volume, with the last book scheduled to ship on December 25. The manga, written by the Goblin Slayer creator and illustrated by Kotaro Sekine, is closing out its four-year run.

How Moscow 2160 Ended With Its Fifth Volume

Sekine and Kagyu launched Moscow 2160 in Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan magazine in December 2022, with Noboru Kannatsuki credited for the character designs. Square Enix shipped the fourth volume in December 2025, and the fifth and final volume will hit shelves this December, wrapping the story at just five books.

For readers unfamiliar with the series, Yen Press — which publishes the manga and a light novel adaptation in English — describes a world where history split from our own: the Soviet Union never fell, and the Cold War has dragged on for two centuries. Cyborg thieves prowl the streets of the far northern city of Moscow, and a lone figure carrying antique machine guns, beholden to no organization, is known only as the “Janitor.”

Kumo Kagyu’s Expanding 2027 Lineup

The author remains one of the busiest names in dark fantasy. Kagyu’s Goblin Slayer! franchise — which began as a dark fantasy novel series in February 2016 — has spawned spinoff novels, multiple manga adaptations, and two anime seasons. And his next big project is already on the calendar: the anime adaptation of the Blade & Bastard light novel series, written with Overlord illustrator so-bin, is set to premiere in 2027.

SB Creative also released a light novel version of Moscow 2160 back in June 2023, so the setting lives on in prose even as the manga closes its final chapter.
