WWE Planning Rey Mysterio’s Farewell
According to the report, a source told WrestleVotes Radio that backstage talk of a potential 2027 retirement is heating up. WWE has begun brainstorming how to stage Mysterio’s final match — a farewell worthy of one of the most beloved performers in wrestling history.
Mysterio, now a WWE Hall of Famer, remains active: he and Dragon Lee challenged for the Intercontinental Championship on the October 19 episode of Raw, proving the lucha legend can still go at the highest level.
Why 2027 Would Be the Right Time
Few wrestlers have meant as much to the cruiserweight and lucha libre style as Rey Mysterio. From his WCW breakthrough to his WWE championship runs and WrestleMania moments, Mysterio’s mask has become iconic across generations of fans.
A planned, celebrated farewell in 2027 would let WWE give one of its all-time greats the sendoff he deserves — rather than an abrupt exit. Fightful says it will update fans as more details emerge.
