Aaron Paul's Secret Clayface Cameo Revealed: Who the Breaking Bad Star Plays in DC's Horror Movie

Three-time Emmy winner Aaron Paul has a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo in DC’s Clayface, and director James Watkins has now revealed exactly why the Breaking Bad and Westworld star appears in DC’s first R-rated horror movie.

Word of Paul’s casting was first reported by Feature First back in June, but the details of his role were kept under wraps — and in the final cut, the appearance is so brief that most viewers will miss it on a first watch.

Aaron Paul’s Clayface Cameo Explained

Paul plays Jimmy “One Nut” Hagen, the late abusive father of protagonist Matt Hagen (Tom Rhys Harries). His cameo arrives during the film’s climactic action sequence at the Gotham City nightclub Vesuvius, where Matt confronts the gangsters who disfigured him.

In the scene, Matt finds the hood who killed his dad — and then morphs into his father to shock the killer. It’s a chilling use of Clayface’s shapeshifting powers, turning the monster’s origin trauma into a weapon of revenge.

His role was largely cut out of the final version, Watkins confirmed, leaving only the fleeting appearance that survived the edit. For fans watching closely, spotting the Jesse Pinkman actor in the shadows of Vesuvius is one of the film’s best hidden details.

Clayface: DC’s First R-Rated Horror Movie

Clayface is now playing in theaters. The film leans hard into body horror — a bold swing for the DC Universe and a sign the new era of DC storytelling isn’t afraid to get dark.
