Another desperate day for Manchester United ended in a 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth, with captain Bruno Fernandes left on the bench for the entire match by manager Michael Carrick. It is the third time in four years that Bournemouth have won at Old Trafford — and the player ratings make grim reading for the hosts.

Bournemouth 3-0 Manchester United: How the Goals Came
Bournemouth struck first through Rayan, who finished superbly first-time after a brilliant free-kick delivery from Justin Kluivert created the opener. The second came gift-wrapped: Leny Yoro slipped to hand Bournemouth the chance, and Marcus Tavernier finished from close range after Adrien Truffert seized on the error.
The third was the killer blow for United goalkeeper Senne Lammens, whose massive error handed Evanilson a brilliant finish to seal a comfortable Cherries win. Evanilson had earlier seen a goal ruled out for offside but was not denied in the end.
Manchester United Player Ratings: Fernandes Left Out, Maguire Leads
Fernandes, dropped to the bench by Carrick, stayed there as United chased the game — a huge call from the manager that will dominate the post-match debate. Harry Maguire regained the captain’s armband and earned a 6 for blocking an early Rayan chance and driving forward, while Bryan Mbeumo also scored 6 despite barely featuring until late in the first half.
Elsewhere it was a sea of 4s and 5s: Youri Tielemans was hauled off at half-time after a disappointing display, Amad Diallo produced one beautiful piece of skill but too little else, and Ayden Heaven’s yellow card for a rash tackle proved costly as the resulting free-kick led to the opener.
Bournemouth Player Ratings: Rayan, Tavernier and Evanilson Shine
For Bournemouth, Rayan, Tavernier and Evanilson all earned 8s, with Antonio Silva, Truffert, Lewis Cook, Tyler Adams and Kluivert all scoring 7. It was, in the words of the report, a brilliant day for the visitors and a catastrophic one for United.
