New Japan Pro-Wrestling held night three of its NJPW Super Junior Tag League tournament on October 26 from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, airing on NJPW World. The night shuffled both blocks, with several teams moving to 2-1 and the standings tightening at the top — while one team slipped to a winless 0-3.

The show opened with a singles bout, as Taisei Nakahara def. Yushin Hatazawa, before the tournament action took over. In B Block, The Swirl (Lee Johnson and Blake Christian) (2-1, 4 points) def. Daiki Nagai and Titán (0-3, 0 points) — a crucial win for The Swirl and a damaging third straight loss for Nagai and Titán, who are now rooted to the bottom of their block.

In A Block, Nick Wayne and KUSHIDA (2-1, 4 points) def. KUUKAI and Master Wato (1-2, 2 points), keeping Wayne and KUSHIDA firmly in the hunt at the top of the block while pushing their opponents to a losing record. Also in B Block, Hyo and YOH (2-1, 4 points) def. United Empire (Jakob Austin Young and Francesco Akira) (2-1, 4 points) in a battle of teams tied on points — a result that gives Hyo and YOH the head-to-head edge in a crowded race.

A Block continued with HOUSE OF TORTURE (Yoshinobu Kanemaru and DOUKI) (2-1, 4 points) def. Kazuma Sumi and Ryusuke Taguchi (1-2, 2 points), another win for the veteran HOUSE OF TORTURE pairing. In B Block, HOUSE OF TORTURE (Dick Togo and SHO) (1-2, 2 points) def. Ichiban Sweet Boys (Kosei Fujita and Robbie Eagles) (2-1, 4 points) — an upset that keeps Togo and SHO alive while handing the Sweet Boys their first defeat of the tournament.

The night closed in A Block with Masatora Yasuda and Místico (1-2, 2 points) def. Unbound Co. (Robbie X and Taiji Ishimori) (2-1, 4 points), a result that opens up the A Block picture considerably and prevents Unbound Co. from pulling away at the top.

Super Junior Tag League standings after night three

After three nights, the pattern is clear: no team is running away with either block. In A Block, Wayne and KUSHIDA, HOUSE OF TORTURE’s Kanemaru and DOUKI, and Unbound Co. all sit at 2-1, with Yasuda and Místico, KUUKAI and Wato, and Sumi and Taguchi all at 1-2 chasing them. One more loss for the chasing pack could prove fatal, while one more win for the leaders could start to separate them.

B Block is similarly congested. The Swirl, Hyo and YOH, United Empire, and the Ichiban Sweet Boys all hold 2-1 records, with HOUSE OF TORTURE’s Togo and SHO at 1-2 still within striking distance. Only Nagai and Titán, at 0-3, look in serious trouble — but in a round-robin league, even a winless team can play spoiler against contenders down the stretch.

That is what makes the Super Junior Tag League so compelling at this stage: every match matters twice — once for the winner’s own points, and once for the damage it does to a rival’s record. Night three delivered exactly that kind of drama, with head-to-head wins, a first defeat for an unbeaten team, and a winless team still searching for its first points. The race to the final is wide open.
