“The Perfect Lie”: Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin Reunite After 10 Years
Helmed by “You and Everything Else” director Jo Young Min, “The Perfect Lie” is a psychological thriller in which a man and a woman offer completely opposite accounts of the same memory, clashing fiercely in their search for the truth. The central question driving the drama is simple and gripping: who is telling the truth?
Where “Dr. Romantic” saw the pair as colleagues in a hospital, “The Perfect Lie” pits them against each other, with the tension between their characters and their emotional shifts at the heart of the story. Ahead of the premiere, both actors spoke warmly about working together again.
What the Stars Said About Working Together Again
Yoo Yeon Seok said that although they met again after 10 years, it felt more welcoming and comfortable than unfamiliar. “Because we trust each other, we were able to lean on one another and draw acting energy from each other while filming scenes that were emotionally challenging,” he said.
He praised Seo Hyun Jin as an actress highly sensitive to her scene partner’s words and actions while conveying her own emotions with remarkable depth, adding that her concentration allowed him to immerse himself deeply in every scene. “It was fascinating that we could trust each other’s performances and respond naturally to one another,” he said.
Seo Hyun Jin, meanwhile, said that at first there were moments when she thought “he’s changed so much,” which made watching Yoo Yeon Seok’s performance fun. As filming progressed, she found it enjoyable and comfortable to act alongside him because she could trust him. She also praised his ability to adapt on set and his creative ideas, saying he often came up with ideas that helped make scenes richer, and that he made her confident he would respond well to whatever performance she gave.
With a premise built on conflicting memories and two leads who clearly trust each other on set, “The Perfect Lie” is shaping up as one of the most intriguing Korean drama premieres of the season.
