Zoey Serrano is still aiming for a singles run, even as she enjoys championship success alongside Shayna Baszler in TNA Wrestling. Appearing on Busted Open, Serrano recounted the moment she learned Baszler had signed with TNA, and the honest conversation she then had with the company’s creative team about wanting to do both tag team and singles work.
Baszler’s signing reunited the duo, who went on to win the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Titles at the 2026 Bound For Glory pay-per-view. But Serrano admitted she did not see the reunion coming until just days before it happened.

How Zoey Serrano Learned Shayna Baszler Signed With TNA
“Honestly, I didn’t really know if, I mean, obviously Daria (Rae) was there and everything else but I didn’t know if Shayna (Baszler) was gonna come,” Serrano said. “So when she told me that she finally signed and that we were gonna be a team together, that was really exciting. I found out, I think, like four days ahead of time or something.”
Once Baszler signed, TNA Head of Creative Delirious immediately pitched the pair as a team. Serrano, however, had something she wanted to say first.
Why Serrano Still Wants a TNA Singles Run
“I wanted to do my own thing. I was in a tag for the last, my entire career, so I was like, ‘I wanna go out and do a singles and figure myself out before I go back into another team,'” Serrano explained. “It wasn’t discussed. I wasn’t told anything. It just was kind of like, ‘Hey, I signed,’ when she told me, and then Delirious kinda just said, ‘Okay, you two are a team. Let’s think of tag names.'”
Rather than staying quiet, Serrano spoke directly to Delirious. “I was like, ‘I still wanna do singles stuff. I wanna do both, and be a workhorse more than anything else and find myself.’ That’s really the goal at this point in my career is just finding myself again. Have fun with everything.”
To her relief, the conversation went well. Serrano said working with Delirious has been a breeze, with every idea she has pitched getting a positive response. He even texted her reassurance: “Don’t worry. We’re gonna still do singles.” The pair have since made their presence felt, jumping Knockouts World Champion Indi Hartwell on the October 22 Thursday Night iMPACT, with Baszler holding up the Knockouts Title to close the segment.
“I love working with Shayna (Baszler) but, I definitely wanna see where I could go with the singles route,” Serrano said. For now, she gets both: a championship tag team, and a singles future still very much in play.
