Previously, it was reported that actor Han Suk Kyu had been cast in the role, but he has since reportedly stepped down from the project — opening the door for Kim Myung Min’s potential casting.

Based on a webtoon, “New Neighborhood” follows the stories that unfold as elderly villagers reclaim remote mountainous land to build a small community and live together in a new village. It is a premise rooted in community, second chances and starting over — a very different canvas from the high-octane world of “The Fiery Priest.”

The drama will be helmed by director Lee Myung Woo, whose acclaimed projects include “The Fiery Priest,” “Boyhood” and “Doctor Slump.” That track record — spanning sharp comedy-drama, coming-of-age warmth and medical romance — suggests “New Neighborhood” could balance humour and heart in the story of villagers building a life together from scratch.

The broadcast schedule, airing network and streaming platforms have yet to be determined. Stay tuned for more updates as Kim Myung Min’s casting decision is confirmed.
