The demon-school spin-off is officially on the calendar. Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun: IruMafia Edition has revealed its main visual and locked in a January 4, 2027 premiere, giving fans of the long-running franchise a brand-new story to look forward to in the new year.

The spin-off will run for 12 episodes, and six character visuals have also been revealed alongside the main key art. The announcement adds even more momentum to a franchise that already has its first theatrical anime film project in development.
IruMafia Edition Staff and Production Details
Keiichiro Kawaguchi is directing the spin-off, with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu handling series composition and Kenji Fujisaki on character designs. Bao Chong Wang serves as art director, while Yayoi Sekimukai composes the music. Animation production is handled by Studio Tatsunoko Production, a veteran name bringing the mafia-flavoured twist on Babyls to life.
For newcomers, the original Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun follows human teenager Suzuki Iruma, who is whisked away to the demon world and enrolled at a school run by demons. Forced to hide his humanity, the ultimate pacifist survives by winning over enemies with sheer kindness — a premise that has kept the series going since its anime premiere in 2019.
Why the IruMafia Edition Premiere Matters
The original manga by Osamu Nishi, serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion, has reached 50 volumes as of September 2026. A spin-off with its own visual identity and a 12-episode run shows just how much life is left in the franchise, and the January 2027 premiere slots it neatly into the winter anime season.
With the main visual out and the premiere date set, the next reveals to watch for are the theme songs and streaming details. Until then, the demon school’s doors are officially open for a mafia-flavoured new chapter.
