The company filed its prospectus for an initial public offering on Monday, a massive document outlining both its ambitions and the general state of the business. The filing starts the clock on the final stages of one of the most anticipated IPOs of the year.
Anthropic IPO Timeline: Roadshow in November, Listing Before Thanksgiving
By mid-November, Anthropic and its team of nearly two dozen bankers will likely start pitching potential investors directly through a roadshow, according to MarketWatch.
Under U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission rules, companies must file their prospectus at least 15 days before launching a roadshow. That would position Anthropic to kick off its roadshow as soon as the week of November 9 and pursue a public listing as soon as the week of November 16.
That timeline would also let Anthropic complete its IPO before Thanksgiving, after which dealmaking typically slows down. It would require the company to move through its investor presentations fairly quickly, though roadshows have been trending shorter, according to Jay Ritter, director of the IPO Initiative at the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business, because many potential investors have already seen earlier fundraising presentations.
Anthropic IPO Would Cap the Year of Megacap Listings
Anthropic is set to cement the year of the “megacap IPOs” with one of the biggest offerings ever, according to IPO research firm Renaissance Capital. It would follow major global offerings this year, including SpaceX’s public issuance and South Korean chip maker SK Hynix’s Nasdaq debut.
Reports have suggested the Claude chatbot maker is seeking a valuation of as much as $2 trillion, which would make it an even larger debut than SpaceX’s earlier this year. Anthropic has not commented on the reports, and a representative did not immediately return a request for comment.
As with any IPO, the timeline remains subject to market conditions and regulatory steps — but the filing means the countdown to Anthropic’s public debut has officially begun.
