Entertainment Hits $332.5B To Become World's Second Most Valuable Sector As Netflix, YouTube & Spotify Fly - Interbrand Report

Entertainment is now the world’s second most valuable business sector, worth a staggering $332.5 billion. According to consultancy Interbrand’s latest Best Global Brands report, entertainment has overtaken the automotive industry, growing 12.4% year-on-year even as Hollywood grapples with layoffs and budget cuts.

The headline number tells a story of an industry in transition. Traditional Hollywood may be tightening its belt, but the broader entertainment economy — spanning streaming, music, gaming and live experiences — is expanding fast.

Entertainment $332.5B Value: Netflix, YouTube and Spotify Lead Growth

Within that total, Netflix’s brand value grew 22%, which Interbrand links to its pushes into live entertainment, sport and advertising. That growth should be welcome news for Netflix executives, who have faced pressure from Wall Street over recent financials and questions about user engagement.

YouTube and Spotify were also singled out among the companies flying high in the report, reflecting how entertainment value has shifted beyond the studio system toward platforms that blend video, music, podcasts and creator content.

Why Entertainment Overtook Automotive in Brand Value

The overtaking of automotive is symbolic as much as economic. For decades, car brands dominated global brand rankings through manufacturing scale and advertising muscle. Entertainment’s rise to second place shows how attention itself has become one of the world’s most valuable commodities.

The paradox is that this growth comes alongside real pain inside Hollywood, with layoffs and shrinking budgets a regular headline. The Interbrand numbers suggest the pain is concentrated in legacy production, while the wider entertainment ecosystem — streaming platforms, music services and digital creators — continues to grow.
