2PM Nichkhun Admits Face-Lifting Laser Cosmetic Procedure After Harsh Weight Comments

2PM’s Nichkhun has admitted he underwent a face-lifting laser cosmetic procedure after facing harsh criticism about his appearance earlier this year. The legendary second-generation K-pop idol opened up about the procedure in a new YouTube video, explaining it was done to look his best for 2PM’s recent concerts in Seoul.

Earlier this year, Nichkhun’s visual change sparked brutal commentary online. Following an appearance on a show, netizens zeroed in on his weight gain and more mature appearance, with many leaving harsh opinions. The idol later addressed the negative comments and revealed he had gone on a highly restrictive diet afterwards in an effort to change how he looked.

Nichkhun’s cosmetic procedure admission with Jun.K and Wooyoung

In a video shared on YouTube, Nichkhun and fellow 2PM member Jun.K were approached by Wooyoung while discussing their appearances. During the conversation, Nichkhun casually shared that he and Jun.K had both gotten face-lifting laser procedures done.

Describing the treatment, Nichkhun said he used a product that provides lifting and cooling treatments at the same time. “Usually, laser treatments are painful, so you have to apply numbing cream, but this time, it was over in just 10 minutes,” he explained. “As you get older, your face inevitably starts to sag. You have to maintain it. You have to take care of yourself in advance.”

The admission is notable precisely because of the pressure that preceded it. Idols — especially second-generation veterans who debuted when the industry’s visual standards were even more rigid — face relentless scrutiny over weight and aging, and Nichkhun’s story shows how quickly online commentary can push a performer toward drastic measures like an extreme starvation diet.

Why Nichkhun decided to speak up now

Nichkhun framed the procedure matter-of-factly rather than defensively: it was done before 2PM’s recent Seoul concerts so he could give fans his “best” image. For a group that has been active for over a decade and a half, maintaining stage-ready visuals while aging naturally is a constant balancing act, and his honesty about the laser treatment strips away some of the secrecy that usually surrounds cosmetic work in K-pop.

Whether fans will embrace his candor remains to be seen, but the conversation it has started — about how much criticism idols can take before turning to cosmetic procedures and crash diets — may be the most important part of the video.
